OK, so the title is wrong ...

Hi everyone!

This is a blog I only really use on courses like this, and when I set it up for use last time it was here back in October 2006. You can see the title at the top of the page.

So, what I would like you to comment on is this - how are you enjoying the course so far? Is it too fast, or too slow? Fascinating, mildly interesting, or totally irrelevant? Please write a few lines.

Just click on Comment (immediately after this entry) and write. Then make sure you click on Anonymous before you post. (The blog is set up in this way - if I had wanted, I could have set it up so that only specific people could look at it. )

How many other people have left comments? Can you read their comments? Do you agree with them?

Warm wishes to you all

Have you ever wondered what the people were like, and what they did in Ancient Greece? How would you have behaved if you lived there? They are much different than you and I are today. Put on your tunic, and head off to Ancient Greece!

Task

Your search will lead you to the above questions; you will even find out what a tunic is. Find a partner and go to the Web pages that are listed below. You will answer questions, do activities, and learn more about the people of Greece.

Advice

Be sure to notice what types of clothing the people wore and what children did for fun, as well as the daily life of the people. You might be asked questions about the clothing and children. Make sure that you work with your partner and that you both do an even amount of work.

Process

Write the following eight questions on a piece of paper, then go to the Web sites listed below to find the answers.

What kind of jobs did the Greek man have?
Who was in charge in the Greek houses? Why would this surprise you? (Think about question four).
Who was allowed to attend school? How would this affect you if you lived in Ancient Greece?
What three things could slaves not do?

Making Video Materials available via your Blog

You can use a blog page, or indeed any webpage, to give students easy access to online multimedia materials.

If you find a webpage with a video in it that you would like to use, simply copy the address of the page into your blog. Make sure there is always an http://

For example, here is a Videojug clip about getting out of a car elegantly.

Obviously, you can do the same with audio. This is a link to the ESL Listening Lab. audio:

Or, you can simply embed the video into your page, like this:

A second post

This is even more interesting than my last post - but this time you can comment!!!!!

A simple entry

This is a bit of writing which is not very interesting but I do not know what to say and everyone is looking at this and I am bored now so I will stop doing this ....
